Obut at the heart of the Tour de France Fan Parks: A look back in pictures from Lille and Montpellier
Two Stops, Two Vibes: Lille and Montpellier won over by pétanque
This summer, Obut brought excitement to the Tour de France Fan Parks in Lille and Montpellier, creating a friendly, festive atmosphere filled with great throws! It was a unique opportunity to introduce (or reintroduce) pétanque to thousands of visitors from all over France — and beyond.
Pétanque, the Tour’s unexpected star
In a warm and welcoming atmosphere, young and old alike tried their hand at pétanque on the Obut courts specially set up for the occasion. Each Fan Park featured two complementary workshops :
- A shooting workshop to test your aim
- A pointing workshop to master the basics of precision
All with leisure boules adapted to every type of player — toddlers, kids, teens, and adults all found a boule that suited them… and had an absolute blast !
An immersive experience close to the public
Lille, then Montpellier : at each stop, Obut’s signature yellow and black universe drew in the curious. The on-site team enthusiastically shared its expertise, humor, and passion. The activities sparked moments of true connection and genuine exchanges — a perfect reflection of the values that drive us.
At the stand, visitors also discovered the different steps involved in crafting both competition and leisure boules — a moment that was both educational and captivating. Many were surprised to learn that the boules are hollow, the result of a precise and technical manufacturing process.
Another common surprise: the location of the Obut factory. While some naturally assume it’s in the South of France, all Obut boules are actually designed and produced in Saint-Bonnet-le-Château, in the Loire region. It’s a strong commitment to Made in France — one we proudly uphold and that always sparks interest and appreciation from the public.
Our products also available at the Tourmalet Boutique
A First This Year : Obut products made their debut in a place as legendary as it is lofty… the official Tour de France boutique at the Maison du Tourmalet. Perched at 2,110 meters above sea level, at the summit of this iconic pass, the boutique is much more than just a shop — it’s a cultural stop for cycling enthusiasts, hikers, and curious visitors alike.
A fantastic showcase for our brand, and a great opportunity to shine a spotlight on the world of pétanque along cycling’s most famous routes.
Whether you're a cyclist just reaching the top or a holidaymaker looking for a local souvenir, you can now leave with a triplette in hand and the spirit of the Tour in your pocket. Between two mountain climbs, pétanque makes its joyful entrance — a playful nod to relaxation, precision… and the simple joy of the game.
Thank you to everyone who came to play with us !
Your enthusiasm and your smiles are our greatest reward. This popular success confirms the growing interest in pétanque and inspires us to keep sharing it wherever it can bring people together.
